Welcome to The Restoration House! |
|
The Restoration House (TRH) provides a safe place for birth and single mother families. We are helping women and their children find the restoration they need in order to make successful life transitions and achieve their future goals and dreams. We believe that God created us to be in community with one another; therefore He does not desire for mothers to be forced to raise their children alone and without support. TRH is striving to support women and their families in the most loving and encouraging ways possible.
East Tennessee is already working to support young mothers in many ways. Instead of duplicating that work, we are supplementing it through collaboration by providing supportive transitional housing, team mentoring, and service planning. As the TRH network continues to grow, we hope to find a spirit of unity and cooperation wherever we are.

Smart Savings IDA Program |
|
The Restoration House understands that being poor is not just about a lack of income but it is also a lack of assets. Most of us have something to fall back on if we lose our income for a short period of time, like a house or an education. But for the mothers at TRH there is no such safety net.
With the help of Covenant Community Capital (Houston, TX), the Chalmer's Center (Lookout Mountain, GA), and SunTrust Bank, The Restoration House offers low-income single mother families the chance to gain those kinds of assets through our Smart Savings Individual Development Accounts (IDA). These IDAs are essentially matched savings accounts where the mother is able receive a 3:1 match on her savings toward a particular asset purchase, such as covering the cost of a down-payment on a home or to cover costs associated with secondary education.

Family Christmas Shop
The Family Christmas Shop is partnering with The Restoration House in order to bring dignity back to some low-income families throughout the holiday season.
We have seen this approach bring joy to countless families by providing them a way to give back to their loved ones. This truly is a "ministry in partnership". During the first two years of The Family Christmas we witnessed over 20 community partners including churches, local businesses, and social service organizations partner together to bring this vision to a reality, with over 150 families benefiting from this incredible opportunity.
