During those two weeks people visited www.love89.org, or www.therestorationhouse.net and submitted an essay describing in 100 words or less how their mother has made significant impact serving others in the community. The contest was be judged by impartial judges from Indianapolis, Indiana.
The prize packages included gifts from Connie's Naturally Gourmet, Mary Kay, Tennessee School of Beauty, Dasia Massage, Cracker Barrel, Agape Photography, Bliss, The Yarn Haven, Capelli Bella Salon - Cami Fogarty, Simply Creative, Em Tanner Designs, BalancedYou, and more!
Congratulations to Barbara Shoemaker and Stephanie Mitchum for winning this year's contest!
Barbara Shoemaker Nomination - My mother is a woman of patience, love, giving, and support. She has raised seven children who love the Lord. Three of those children are in full time ministry and the other four support and are involved in their churches and missions activities. Mother volunteers her time at Teen Challenge of East TN as a receptionist and leads a ladies group in The Church at Sterchi Hills. Being in her early 80's has not slowed her down in the least. She has multiplied her impact by teaching her family to serve the Lord and their community. Her whole life has been dedicated to serving others through missions work, her church and her community.
Stephanie Mitchum Nomination - My mother is a very loving person who helps the poor and homeless in Knoxville out of the kindness of her heart. She is a light into the darkness showing God's love and grace to the inner city community through Water Angel Ministries. For the past 8 years, she has donated her time helping the homeless get their State ID, jobs, housing, moves them in, helps with clothing, and encourages their walk with the Lord. She's taught me the importance of treating people the way you would want to be treated, and is an inspiration to me.
