SKILL BASED EDUCATION
Volunteer by becoming a class facilitator, provide meals, or help out with childcare.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Tutor, lead classes, and assisting in our On Belay program.
ADMIN SUPPORT
We have regular need for assistance with receptionist duties, preparing mailings, and technical support.
WORK GROUPS
Bring your work group to help us flip an apartment, move a family, load furniture, or assist with landscaping and gardening.

IN RELATIONSHIP WITH
MOTHER-LED FAMILIES?
Join a team of 5-7 allies from local churches
ranging in age and life experience helping
to cultivate a diverse and mutually supportive
community! Ally Teams are a key component of
The Restoration House program which focuses on
relational and spiritual support as well as
social capital.

- Follower of Christ and an active member of a local congregation
- Willingness to learn alongside the participating family
- Patience and persistence for the inevitable “ups and downs” of the journey
- Committed to journey with the a TRH family for up to 2 years, and beyond
- Eagerness to provide relational and spiritual support as well as social capital
- Excited to celebrate each ‘small’ step, recognizing it’s the small steps that make up the journey
- Weekly contact with assigned participating family (phone call, email, text, card etc)
- Monthly social activity with participating family (such as watching a movie, going to the park, grabbing a cup of coffee together or other things friends do together)
- Attend bi-annual Family Nights sponsored by The Restoration House and designed to strengthen Ally relationships
- Submit Application
- Interview with TRH Director of Programs
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Complete TRH Ally Training process listed below
- Placement onto an Ally team
All allies will go through a training process which includes:
- 101 – COPE (Cost Of Poverty Experience) 3 hour poverty simulation to experience what it is like to live in poverty (can happen any time before becoming an Ally)
- 102 – Ally training, a 2 hour introduction to becoming an Ally
- Read When Helping Hurts by Fikkert and Corbett
- A staff-facilitated “Ally Team Launch” at which Allies and the family meet
- 103 – Ally training, a 2 hour training for going deeper into the ally journey (Approximately 1 month after Ally Launch)
- Read Toxic Charity by Bob Lupton
- Ongoing communication, support and connection for the Ally team, including the use of Group Me, a mobile group messaging app
- Supplemental trainings will also be offered at various times
