Earlier this year, The Restoration House partnered with A Hand Up For Women/Knox County Christian Women’s Job Corps to assist in restoring single moms and their children to God’s good intent for their lives. A Hand Up For Women provides life management and job readiness classes for all Restoration House moms. Through a unique combination of classes, networking, friendship and spiritual development we help women realize the skills they possess, their capability for self-sufficiency, and the unconditional love of their Heavenly Father. For two consecutive years, the Acton Institute named A Hand Up For Women one of the ten most effective privately-funded nonprofits in the United States. They have also received the WMU Endowment Award from their home office in Birmingham, Alabama.
Currently, A Hand Up For Women has one part-time staff member, Faith Gilley, at The Village. Faith has served as a volunteer, mentor, and instructor with our main site program and is currently fulfilling the role of Program Assistant at The Village. In addition to her time with A Hand Up at The Restoration House, Faith is a full time student pursing her B.A. in Psychology.
